Diagnosing Ringworm

Ringworm is a common cause of skin problems in pets in Dubai and if we cannot diagnose it with the UV light (or Wood's Lamp), then we take a sample of the hair and skin cells for culture. Veterinarians can do this in-house using a culture pot that is shown in the video and the results usually take two weeks. The test result is interpreted based on a colour change in the culture medium after time ~ and a change from orange brown to red usually means a positive for dermatophytosis.
