Bandages are used regularly in veterinary practice ~ whether it be to cover wounds and surgical areas, or to provide support to injured tendons, ligaments and bones. They need to be applied correctly, with attention to the various layers of material required, the tension applied and the overall length of the bandage, as different conditions all have their own specific needs. If a bandage becomes wet or is chewed by the pet-patient, it should be removed before it shrinks and potentially causes harm instead of good.
